Pune Train Services Hit By Major Blocks From September 19 To October 4

Pune train services will face major disruptions from September 19 to October 4 as Central Railway undertakes third-line work between Hadapsar and GCMC, with cancellations, diversions and revised timings affecting passengers.

Train services in the Pune division are set for disruptions between September 19 and October 4 as Central Railway undertakes pre-non-interlocking and non-interlocking works for the construction of a third railway line between Hadapsar and the Ghorpade Coach Maintenance Complex (GCMC).

The phased traffic blocks will affect mail and express trains, DEMU services and local trains operating through the Pune division. As part of the work will coincide with Ganeshotsav, passengers are expected to face inconvenience during the festival period.

According to the railway’s plan, blocks will initially be imposed on both up and down main lines between Pune and Hadapsar from September 19 to 23, daily from noon to 5 pm.

From September 24, the duration of the blocks will gradually be reduced as the work progresses.

A further traffic block will be imposed at the Hadapsar yard on October 3, from 8 am to noon and again from noon to 4 pm.

This will be followed by another block from 10.30 am to 6.30 pm for signalling and telecommunications-related work.

The extensive work will lead to changes across several train services. According to the railway plan, 42 mail, express and passenger trains will be cancelled, affecting a total of 98 trips.

In addition, 25 trains will be diverted, impacting 36 trips. As many as 35 trains will either originate or terminate at stations other than their scheduled stations, affecting 99 trips.

The railway will also regulate 22 trains covering 71 trips, while the timings of 14 trains involving 25 trips will be revised.

Services on routes including Pune-Solapur, Pune-Nagpur, Pune-Mumbai and Pune-Howrah are among those expected to be affected.

Railway passengers travelling during the block period have been advised to check the latest train schedules before leaving for the station. Those travelling during Ganeshotsav, when passenger demand is expected to be higher, will need to factor in cancellations, diversions, revised timings and changes in originating or terminating stations.

The third-line project will improve railway infrastructure in the Pune division and increase line capacity, potentially allowing more efficient movement of trains once the work is completed.
